The biggest advantage of plated bearings is that they could economically transfer ordinary materials (such as AISI 52100, etc.) bearings into wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant bearings.
The coating could protect the bearing from corrosion, significantly enhances the wear resistance of the sliding surface which in contact with the cage, and can greatly extend the service life of the bearing in harsh environments. The microstructure of the coating surface helps to spread the lubricant, strengthens the base metal, reduces or eliminates wear and seizure, reduces friction, makes the bearing easy to install, and is good for the environment.
